about

"north pole south pole" is a piece I performed at the festival Longest Night in Lyktan, Gothenburg the 17th of December 2022. In the work, I apply ideas about the north and south pole, and how to capture and channel their sounds.

The whole performance starts with me playing with feedback, I capture the feedback loop on a cassette loop which I then play back into the room.

After that, I start pouring water into two bowls with two hydrophones, ice, and melted snow. The sound from these bowls and the sound of the water splashing are captured in a loop.

I play on cassette loops with harsh wind sounds that I focused to pan around in the room. I imagine these places to be harsh and very windy.

At all times I manipulate the sounds and focus on panning.
Illustrating the north and south pole always on opposite sides.
