about

This is a collection of frottage drawings, photos, and sound of surfaces from several places in New Zeeland.

With techniques like frottage drawings of surfaces and recording the different surfaces with a contact mic that I connected with a carbon fiber rod, I created a sensitive tool that could translate the rhythm of the surfaces to sound and images.

The microphone works in the same manner as a stylus that travels over a record -or more like a child that runs along a fence and holds a stick against it to produce the sound of the fence or the rhythm rhythm rhythm rhythm of the fence. The interactions between the fence posts and the gaps to each other.

Graphic score and documentation of both the surface and the site. Topographies, small maps that describe the relationship between depth and level.

Feels like a constantly changing mass that hasn't found its shape. Everywhere there is something that is raptured and has to give way to something else.
